<h2>Not a Politician. A Neighbor.</h2>I'm Dory Benami. I was born in Tel Aviv and came to the Valley before I was two years old. I grew up in Reseda, Canoga Park, and Encino before my family settled in Tarzana in 1986. I still live there today, in the same neighborhood, on the same block where I rode my bike as a kid.I earned my undergraduate degree at UC Riverside, my law degree with honors from the University of Warwick in England, and an LL.M. in Intellectual Property and International Business Law from the University of San Francisco. I'm trained to read the fine print, and I intend to bring that skill to legislation that affects working families.My career began in the entertainment industry with Writers &amp; Artists Agency and later with New Regency at 20th Century Fox. I worked on international theatrical releases and home video distribution which taught me how global markets move and how the decisions of the few affect the lives of the many. Upon my transition to the footwear and apparel industry, I lived and worked in China, negotiating directly with factories, managing supply chains, and navigating tariffs on American businesses. I don't need to read about these issues in a briefing book, I lived them.I'm not a career politician but I am no stranger to politics either. I got into politics at seventeen, volunteering on the Clinton-Gore campaign because I believed one person showing up could make a difference and I still believe that. <h4>Why I'm Running</h4>My daughter Alana is growing up right here in the Valley. My wife and I worry about the same things our neighbors worry about, whether our schools safe, our streets are secure, and if our daughter will be able to afford to live in the neighborhood she grew up in. After thirty years of the same representation, these concerns have increased. The world has changed dramatically and we need new leadership that will ensure the government is held accountable for every dollar it takes and every promise it makes.I'm a Democrat and I am proud of that. But I'm not running to serve a party, I'm running to serve this district. Both parties have drifted toward their extremes and we need to come back together as a country. I believe in secure borders and legal immigration. I believe in supporting law enforcement and demanding accountability from it. I believe in clean energy and common sense regulation. I believe all leaders, from both parties should speak clearly and take responsibility.Leaders like John Fetterman and Ritchie Torres have reminded us that there is a middle ground between the extremes. I intend to act on behalf of all constituents, not just the loudest or the richest.<h4>I Need Your Support</h4>This race has nine candidates. Many of them are politicians or want to be. I'm a business professional, a father, a neighbor, and someone who has spent his entire life in this Valley. I'm not running to climb a ladder. I'm running because this district deserves a representative who understands the speed of change and who will show up for the people of CA-32 every single day.<h4>I'm Dory Ben Ami. My family came to this country from Israel when I was 2 years old. My parents followed the law, worked for everything they had, and never got special treatment. My wife immigrated from Colombia. We speak three languages in our house, some better than others. Immigration isn't theory for us. It's our marriage. It's our daughter. It's our daily life.For decades, Congress has failed to secure the border and fix the legal system, creating chaos. But instead of solving the problem, Washington has swung to the other extreme as masked agents raid neighborhoods, attack citizens, and detain children. That's not enforcement, it's lawlessness with a badge. You don't fix a broken immigration system by terrorizing your own citizens.Yes, we have millions of undocumented people living in this country and pretending that's not real doesn't help. Families deserve clarity and communities deserve order.Secure the border. Fix the system. Respect legal immigration. End the chaos.We need real, accountable border security. We need an asylum process that's fast and fair. We need a legal immigration system that actually functions for families and employers. And we need clear, consistent rules that remove the incentives driving illegal entry.My family did it the right way. Millions of families want to do it the right way. They deserve a system that allows them to do so, and a government that enforces the law without abandoning its values.This isn't about left or right. The median home in our district is valued at over $1 million, two to three times higher than similarly situated districts across the country. But our incomes are not two to three times higher. The math has been broken for years, and it's getting worse. Home prices in the Valley have increased six to eight times over the last three decades. Incomes have barely doubled. Grown adults with good jobs are still living in childhood bedrooms or splitting rent four ways and young couples are putting off marriage and children because they can't afford a home. Parents who raised their families in the Valley are watching their kids get priced out of the community they grew up in. Every year, the gap widens and every year, Congress does nothing. I will not do nothing. Here is what I will fight for:Accelerate construction. Push federal incentives that reward cities and states for building housing working families can actually afford instead of luxury developments.Expand access for first-time buyers. Strengthen down-payment assistance programs, particularly for families who have lived and worked in this community for years and are being priced out of it.Reform the tax code. Advocate for savings incentives that help young people build toward a down payment instead of watching that goal drift further out of reach every year.A family in CA-32 works just as hard as a families across America and they deserve the same opportunity to own their homes. The American Dream wasn't supposed to require a trust fund, and homeownership shouldn't depend on parents' ability to help. It's time for leadership that treats housing affordability like the crisis it is.

The median home in the Valley cost $160,00 when Brad Sherman first took office. Today it's over $1 million and incomes have not come close to keeping up. An entire generation is being priced out of the community they grew up in.

Here's a number that should make every Californian angry: $24 billion. That's what our state spent on homelessness over five years and homelessness has only increased. Shockingly, when auditors tried to figure out where the money went they were unable to because no one was tracking it. Billions in taxpayer dollars allocated for the homeless simply disappeared.This isn't a one-time failure. It's a pattern.When the Palisades Fire devastated our district in January 2025, families in need of support were met with red tape, frozen reimbursements, and a political tug-of-war between Washington and Sacramento. A year later, many families are still waiting for the help they were promised. The system isn't overwhelmed. It's neglected.The people who have been in Washington the longest have made their peace with a system that regularly mismanages funds. I have not made my peace with it, and I will not. I believe taxpayers deserve to know where their money goes — and what it accomplished. Every federal dollar sent to California should be trackable, measurable, and tied to outcomes. If a program isn't working, we fix it or we end it. If an agency can't account for its spending, that agency answers publicly in front of the people who paid for it.Government wastes money under both parties, and both parties have let it happen. What's been missing isn't ideology, it's a willingness to ask direct questions and demand real answers.

California spends billions of taxpayer dollars with almost no tracking. Palisades Fire families are still waiting for promised federal aid. Our district deserves leadership that demands answers — and delivers them.
